Questions
How much does it cost?
Price is £35 per person for a 1/2 day session. We endeavour
to get all clients at least 2 abseils. Some get as many as 5 but
this depends on personal confidence and group progress.
If you want group exclusivity then you need to book for 5 or more. This is normally better if you have small children.
Groups get 10% discount for 10 or more and 15% for groups of 20 or more.If you have a group bigger than 30 or a charity etc. then call for special rates
What is abseiling?
Abseiling is a basic climbing technique to allow safe descent
of steep rock sections.
Is it safe?
Abseiling is generally regarded as a low risk adventure sport.
We have 10 years experience in outdoor activities and use only qualified,
experienced instructors.
Do I need experience?
No previous experience is necessary. We take things at a pace
you feel comfortable with.
What is a typical session?
A session will normally take a maximum of 3 hours and will
vary on the overall ability of the group. We will endeavour to
ensure that each client gets at least two abseils. This can increase
with a competent group.
What do I do when I arrive?
On arriving at Loggerheads make your way to the OUTDOOR SHOP where you will complete registration and be supplied
with equipment. From Loggerheads we will make a short journey in your own vehicles to the parking area
where a short walk will bring us to the gorge. Due to the limited parking we will try to keep vehicles to a minimum.
This means that if you bring too many spectators they will be asked to walk in to the gorge.
This is about a 35-minute walk. If you have any doubts, then please call us first.
We apologise but the access to the gorge is unsuitable for prams or wheelchairs.
What can my friends and family do while I'm abseiling?
The Loggerheads Country Park is situated in the Clwydian Range
Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Park has an
outdoor shop
, visitor centre, a cafe and toilets and makes an excellent base for
the local riverside walks. If you prefer the hilltops, Loggerheads is just
a short distance from the highest point in the Clwydian Hills, Moel Famau.
For more information about the attractions of the local area see the
Loggerheads website
.
What do I need to bring?
All climbing equipment is provided, but bring clothes that
you don't mind getting a bit grubby and footwear that has good grip (i.e.
not wellies!). Gloves are not necessary, but we do suggest bringing a
waterproof coat if there's any hint of rain.
